Welk Security Trust & opened its’ doors in 2006 with the goal of providing residents in NW Washington a way to get the best and most efficient healthcare coverage possible. Our first challenge was to identify those healthcare, medical, prescription, family and small business plans, and dental plans that would be most helpful to the potential customers we serve. We did that and have been incrementally improving our offerings and services so that now we have become one the premiere agencies in the area. Yes, we’ve grown but our mission and goal have remained the same… To help our clients gain access to the best healthcare plans possible so that they can enjoy their lives to the fullest without worrying about what their healthcare plan covers.

Robert started Welk Security and Trust 12 years ago because he wanted to use what he had learned in the pharmaceutical and tax industry to make a difference for clients in the health insurance marketplace.
He started his business career working with ADP, a fortune 500 company that specializes in creating efficiencies for businesses in the area of tax planning. This experience gave him an understanding about how taxable income can be used to determine what premiums someone might pay for a health plan. He then went on to work as a pharmaceutical representative for Reliant Pharmaceuticals This experience helped him to understand how a healthcare insurance agent can effectively work with health practices so that they can reduce medication costs for clients in an effective way. This is an important facet of Robert’s practice because today almost 20% of the entire cost of healthcare comes from prescription and nonprescription medications. He went on to work for Spokane Community Care, a health insurance company, and learned the complexities of the health care insurance industry. Robert opened Welk Security and Trust, an insurance agency specializing in helping clients deal with and choosing the best health insurance available.
Carmen has 11 years of tax and instructing experience with H&R Block. That experience enables her to help our clients understand the new tax laws and how they affect them on the Exchange. Her other duties here are to set appointments, process applications, and follow up with clients and the insurance companies. Carmen is totally unique in in the healthcare insurance arena in that she is both an Enrolled agent and an Insurance Broker. Bringing these two highly technical skills together allows Carmen to help clients in the Washington Healthcare Exchange and avoid potential penalties or the repayment of tax subsidies.
Tia’s main tasks are to maintain the office keeping it organized and totally efficient. In addition, she also takes care of ordering supplies, answering and delegating phone calls, setting appointments for Brokers and setting follow ups for clients and agents. She ensures that all important documents are uploaded correctly and appear in the exact file so agents and brokers have ready access. She also maintains the front desk, greeting and checking in clients, making sure appointments are timely and greeting our new and existing clients with a smile and a cup of coffee. Tia is the oil that keeps our office running smoothly on a day to day basis.
